The Department of Humanities & Sciences strongly believes in basic foundation of the subjects as the initial step towards all the other branches of engineering discipline leading to great success of student career. The humanities and sciences department aims to provide quality education.

The zeal to learn and excel starts by developing self- confidence which transforms a student from campus to corporate world. The objective of the department is to make the students understand and aware of the importance of sciences and develop a natural elegance and interest towards engineering and technology, which in turn will enhance the students into a competent professionals. It encourages the practical applications of concepts through the learning experience and active participation and sharpens the students’ strength and capability to converse and think rationally, potentially, and innovatively in several ways and these are appropriate for their discipline.

Our faculty’s research expertise in all frontier areas in English, physics, chemistry and mathematics will definitely aid the students to enrich their awareness in engineering studies. The faculty of the Basic Sciences and Humanities impart the best teaching methodologies including personal mentorship to the students, which results to mold the students into competent and true professionals with moral values.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Humanities and Sciences was established in 2009 with first year intake of 240. H&S Dept. is the heart of PEC. The committed faculties in the department are well-known for their intellectual vitality, creativity and dedicate themselves to the highest levels of excellence in the cultivation of learning and the creation of knowledge across a broad spectrum of disciplines like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences.

VISION

To foster the student knowledge in analytical, critical and speculative approaches of the physical sciences and English, providing a firm foundation for intellectual and develop skills by the basic concepts of science and to enhance creative ideas to create new things in a holistic approach.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES:

H&S Department has qualified teaching faculty & well established laboratory. Department gives an exposure to students & faculty practically and promotes research development in labs. All the laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, ELCS, AECS & Other Dept. Labs, BEE, PPS- C LAB, EWS Lab, EG) of the department are well equipped with advanced instruments and technology, to fully satisfy the training needs of the students.

H&S department initiates and monitors regular seminars, workshops and conferences on the latest developments. Industrial visits and expert lectures are included in the curriculum for the benefit of the students.

Apart from the academic programmes the department also organizes Induction/Orientation Program , Fresher’s Day, Model Exhibitions, Club Activities, National Science & Mathematics days, International Yoga day , Women’s day, Independence day, Republic day, cultural events and regional and Religious Festival celebrations.
